relocators any information

Hello
We went to the immigration show on Sunday at Sandown park and met two immigration agents that we really liked. I would just like to know if any one has any experience of these agents and if you would like to share it with me.
Ian Goldman from Goldman Associates
Shadi Norman from Tri-Continental Global Services
Any information would be good.

Regards

My only advice would be to save yourself thousands and do it yourself, it's fairly easy and even with an agent you do 90% of the work yourself anyway.

I agree, do it yourself. As andy_sheila says you will be doing most of the work either way.

If you do omit something or make a mistake your application won't be rejected, they will just ask for clarification or the addtional info.

The application is mostly an information gathering excercise followed by a bit of form filling. Get as much information (pay slips, job offer letters, certificates etc.) fill in the forms carefully and then go through them with a fine tooth comb, job done and £1,000s saved.

Good luck,

Ian.

Fine to DIY if your case is straightforward and you are happy that you have enough points, otherwise take advice from a consultant. We went business and needed one. :) Not the two you have suggested but we were happy with ours.

Have you received a quote from either to see what they are charging.
We used an agent who had a fixed fee and this was not payable if they took you on and did not manage to get your visas. Of course there were conditions so if the visa refusal was because of medical failure or any fault from our side the fee still stood.
We did not pay £1000's i think it was about £2000 total, maybe less.

I would agree that doing it yourself is really a no-brainer (we used an agent\lawyer and wish we'd saved the money) UNLESS your case is VERY complicated .

Never heard anything about Goldman
Heard more bad than good about Norman (I believe her first name is a good indication)

The fact that when you go on her website the Simple Minds song "Promised you a miracle" is playing in the background should tell you something!!!!! :D

I think she is good if you are in a very in demand profession and she can pick up very easy commission. However, if you are not in one of these professions, from my personal experience, she talked a load of shite!

Shadi Norman

For real?

Sounds like a dodgy monty python character! Wink wink, say no more ;)

My thoughts on migration agents in general are there in the archive somewhere.

I don't know about Ian Goldman, but we did contact Shadi Norman. She seems to specialise in the construction industry, which given the market in BC for construction workers at the moment is easy pickings. When she found out I worked in a different industry, she wasn't so keen.

We did speak to Rudy Kischer - he was quite honest with us and mentioned that our case was quite straightforward and that we might as well do it ourselves.

My view - if you can do it yourself, do it. If you are borderline or even just below, speak to the consultants and see what they can offer for money they will charge you for

HI we went with Goldman, signed up with him cause at the time we needed 75 pts and only had 74, 3 wks after signing they dropped the pass mark to 67  He charged us £1500, which i suppose wasn't bad when you see how much others have payed out. Also had dealings with Shadi, wouldn't recommend, she wasted are time and sent us on a wild goose chase.

We used SIS Canada (email:[email protected]) they are good form fillers and tell you what to do and when, but are only good for getting you to visa, thereafter your pretty much on you own, they provide lots of info on paper but you can easily get these yourself off of the web. My sister also went through them, they had to have an interview and SIS talked them through the process which they found very useful. We paid £1,000 in total - £500 upfront, which you get back if you don't get accepted, then balance on issue of visa.

In summary great if you don't want to do all the donkey work yourselves, but don't expect too much once you have your visa.

Re: relocators any information

Thanks for sharing all your experiences with me. I have a lot to think about.
We can cope with the forms and the paper work we have plenty of points, its the job hunting we need help with. We need to go on the PNP programme to Vancouver. Any advice on where to look for work, we have not got a clue. We cannot travel until after January due to work commitments so need help with job seeking hence using Shadi.
Any info : would be good.

Thanks All of you for all your help.
