Relocating to Calgary- Currie Barracks development
Ok, the house is sold and we have bought an apartment in central York to keep in the UK prop market, we will be making our move in the summer once GCSEs are finished. We intended to move to an apartment just south but within walking distance of Mount Royal university, but with recent threads on here indicating that the road is going to be upgraded, we are now seriously looking at currie barracks redevelopment. Anyone know this development, again it is within walking distance of the university, but just north of it. Would appreciate any insight to the area. Thanks

Currie Barracks is one of the most expensive new neighbourhoods in the city, so yeah, bear that in mind. Although it depends what property type you're looking for.
What road is getting upgraded? I live in that area. There's a new ring road happening a couple of KM away. Glenmore Trail will be upgraded as part of that project, but it's already 6 lanes - hardly turning a country lane into a highway.
None of these should affect you.

If you're right on the south stretch of Lincoln Park that borders Glenmore, then yes, it's going to be noisy and frustrating for a few years. Also, the east side of LP will have a fair bit of noise from Crowchild Trail.
Your best bet is to look at new infills in the Glamorgan, Glenbrook, and Killarney areas. They're within easy reach of MRU, and have far better public transit options. We bought a brand new infill in one of those areas and have seen a 35% property value increase in 2 years as more and more people flock to build in those mature neighbourhoods.
As for high schools, no idea.
