Region Free DVD players?
Hi!
I was wondering if any of you have had the good fortune of finding a decent, not too expensive regiong-free dvd player.
Reason being we have TONS of region 2 DVD's and would love to bring them all with us. We plan to settle in the GTA (ontario), so if you could recommend a store or two, it would be appreciated!

Every month - or maybe every week - someone asks this question.
You can go to Walmart and buy a Diamond DVD player for $30 approximately. I have two and they will both play all regions.
The first one I had to reprogram with a hack.

Look there if yours won't play all regions and you can reprogram it.

We were advised to buy the cheapest, crappest regular Canadian DVD player you can find and it should work.
After trying a couple that didn't work...we ended up with a small black 'Diamond Vision Progressive Scan, Model DVDV809-03' bought from Wal-Mart for $33 CAD and it works fine with all our UK DVDs and Canadian ones. Only buy the black model though as the silver doesn't work for some reason.

It'll be no problem, there are loads available here.
Like in the UK some claim to be region 1 & 2 and are not, others are pot luck, some work, some dont.
One that tends to get good reviews on here is the bog standard own brand from Walmart. Costs about $30-25.
This question has been posed loads of times and there are many more threads you might like to search on.

All of 'The Office' series and Ricky Gervais specials
Kath and Kim series 1/2/3
Spooks
Teachers
Series 1-4 The Still Game (Scottish peeps will know this one)
Must make mental note to buy all 'Shameless' dvds before I go.
Not to mention all the kids movies - White Chicks and Big Momma's house 2 our fav at the moment!
One thing that I will miss about the UK is the good drama programmes we have. Glad NS has Corrie - 9 months behind mind you but it may take that long to get my head straight after the move

Greenbwoy - if you go to that video help web page it will tell you what to do to get the silver one to work. You press menu and then a combination of numbers on the remote and it will give you a choice to cursor down to "all regions" on the silver one. Mine wouldn't work at first but now it works fine for all regions. You only have to reprogram it once.
