Yippee, got home from work and found a nice fat cheque from the Canadian High Commission in London for the difference in Permanent Resident fees. It only took approx 6wks :) .

Anyone else out had any luck?

Funny you should say that - I have just applied for mine ... in full.

After 29 months, I have had enough of all the bull and bureaucracy, so it's time to call it a day.

Can you get a full refund then? How much is it worth now?

2 x CDN$ 975, in our case. The processing fees won't be returned, but the RPRF should be.

At least you made a gain from the currency movement..

My sympathy to you. I know how you feel. I'm sick of this incompetence, and I feel it is only a taster for the blithering arrogance and idiocy to come..

Well, yes, not just wasted money for that, but wasted money for other fees and a huge waste of time, effort and the emotion it cost. Bloody Canadian Government. If Stephen Harper knew the damage this is doing to his country he'd pull his finger out and sort it.

I'm reaching a similar conclusion to you: last week I submitted an EOI to NZIS (via HTTP and PDQ IMHO)

Just curious, do/did/will they ask you any "Quality Assurance" questions on the reasoning for withdrawing your application?

I think answering that would be the most satisfying part. ;)

Sorry it didn't work out. I don't blame you for doing so however.

Cardboard can be comfy. And nothing like a rash under your nose from a bottle in a paper bag. :D

Seriously - from my experience Canadian bureaucracy is incredibly anal, inflexible, mindlessly frustrating and totally phucked but if you accept it as that and just go with it, things usually get sorted out. I've had problems with UK immigration (home office) when calling for info and getting mindless dweebs reguritating scripts back to me often conflicting scripts! But things seem to work out.

Comparing the two, I would say Canada is a far more frustrating experience because of the borg-like dorkknobs you encounter - but things usually get sorted out. I can imgine very easily how things look incompetent (cos they probably are!) - but that is part of the 'joy' of Canada. Could you chalk it up to a cultural experience? ;) :)

Interesting use of the word "will". Such touching faith in the CIC. Implies certainty. I think you need to find an alternative word, something like "eventually" but without the same sense of urgency.

You know you could just have a point there. :D
