Redirecting UK mail

Hi

I appreciate that there are some posts on this subject already but I would welcome some guidance on the following points if anyone has any experience:

We are looking at entering into short term rented accommodation whilst we find a longer term rental (say 1 year) and then looking into buying a property. Does anyone know if you can reroute redirected mail at with UK Royal Mail? I have checked their website but it is a bit vague!

Also whilst I saw that some people have suggested getting a PO Box in Canada, on Canada Post website this appears to be a "Box" within a locked compartment within a Post Office - this is obviously great if you are staying in one location but not so good if (like most expats) you may not be staying in the same location.

Any advice would be appreciated.

HI

Yes you can re route a redirection, but you have to phone their service line to arrange this, I changed a redirect within the UK and for Canada.

Dont think it can be done on line like when you initially set it up.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your responses. Does anyone know anything about the suggested PO Box in Canada, on Canada Post website this appears to be a "Box" within a locked compartment within a Post Office - this is obviously great if you are staying in one location but not so good if (like most expats) you may not be staying in the same location. Has anyone used this type of PO Box or any other type? Can you relocate them once an agreement is started?

Re: Redirecting UK mail

We didn't bother with getting mail re-directed when we came to Canada in Feb 2009. What we did do was to inform all relevant people / companies of a c/o address in th UK, which was my Dad's. He checked my mail and forwarded anything of relevance to us. When we did speak he'd let me know what mail he had for us and more often than not i'd get him to shread it.
