Recommend a Financial Adviser, please

I was interested to know if anyone has dealt with a Financial Adviser that they would recommend for Expats who have assets in the UK. (Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley)

The whole business is so complicated and I just want to talk to someone about our specific situation and find out what the implications of different decisions might be so that we make wise choices.

Any recommendations kindly received.
PM if you do not want to disclose on open forum.

Hi,

We used (and still do) an advisor from Investors Group. His name is Peter Martin and he has been very helpful. If you are interested, I can PM his contact information.

We are in the process of moving everything away from investors group at the moment, so not happy with them as a whole. And yes because we are moving money out we will lose a chunk, but hopefully no more than we are already losing.

Us too. We lived with the higher fees for a bit, but their performance has been poor, and we are paying for selective ones that we have had for a while to jump ship. When the penalties reduce on the others we will probably move the rest.

It's not that we have lots of what might be called investments;just a house and savings and pensions which are our security for the future.
Lack of financial savvy Internationally could have a big impact on what we need to do for the future to secure our retirement.

I think people like me, with just "normal" financial arrangements probably never think about having an accountant or financial adviser because they think it is for 'rich' people, but I think that proper financial advice is actually quite important for everybody, especially in the immigration scenario.

If you're willing to go downtown, i can give you the details of who we use. I like to keep on top of my stuff but she also offers full service i think.
