recce to victoria?

planning a recce trip to victoria end of september time, wondered if anyone out there had already done the trip and can give us the best options money wise, i.e fly to vancouver and then get the ferry, fly to vancouver, fly to victoria etc?
thanks
paul.

Cost - Fly to YVR then ferry. Pick up Pacific Coach Lines bus near the airport.
http://www.pacificcoach.com/ goes right into Victoria.

Fly to YVR - YYJ a lot quicker, cost way more. An enjoyable flight, but maybe not so much after 10 hours on a plane. Maybe better to do a scenic another day or get a flight YYJ to YVR on the return for the experience.

Ferry journey is not to be missed. Also its dirt cheap, as is the bus from the terminal just outside the airport to the ferry. You are gonna love it!

If you are flying Air Canada, you may pick up a UK-Victoria ticket for not much more than a UK-Vancouver ticket but generally I'd agree with everybody else, the ferry is a trip not to be missed and the coach service is good.

Give or take 3 hours from the Airport to Victoria, using the bus, once the bus is on the way. Worth doing the trip once or twice, can get a bit boring after a while though. If you get the ferry on the odd hour, 3, 5 etc, this is usually the spirit class and they have a great buffet restaurant at the front. Much better value and food than the self serve joint.

And the tax payers subsidise it, even if they don't use it!

The ferry ride to Victoria is beautiful and also offers an opportunity to see widlife like whales and seals. The bus station is right in the middle of Victoria which makes it easier to start finding hotels etc. Enjoy you reccie trip to the Island.:)

Hi, travel time from Cobble Hill to Victoria is around 40 minutes. To Nanaimo it is around 50 minutes. We know a lot of people who live here and commute to either Victoria or Nanaimo. Hope this helps.:)
