i think when you arrive at the beginning there is so much to do and to sort out that you could make a mistake and buy in a area that you later decide is not for you, if you are renting it does give you the chance to have a look round and see the areas later on. Plus with xmas coming up i wouldnt really want to be buying yet and the news info we are getting here, i have seen houses in our area reduce quiet abit, i suppose that is why we are renting anew flip house until the market picks up for the guy to sell, he has advised us that we can have it for 2 years...... but i would say that its hard in a rental house when you have owned your own....good luck And of course what you need is a really good friend, who's prepared to go out of her way for you and find you a really decent little rental in a good area, that's clean and safe for kids...........Like Mrs B did for Moondevil - that should make it a bit easier!::thumbsup: Mrs M x |
Re: The 'R' word in Aberta
Thank you all
I knew I would get a really good response from you and I really appreciate everyone replying. We do have a good deposit to put down and my hubby does have a job waiting for him. Our worry is that if we buy a house and the price drops by another $40,000 or something. There are also other factors like many have said already regarding area etc etc. As I mentioned in my first post there is only Neil and I so there is not hurry to buy so we are in a good position. We both know that rental money is dead money but looking at it another way. I have seen condos on 6 month leases so if we don't like it there we don't have to wait too long to get the hell out:lol:. Whereas if you buy a house we might not be able to sell it as quick as we would like and for the same money. Also you never know if any job is secure and this is another risk, he shouldn't get laid off as the company have gone out of their way to get him to Edmonton he is a Structural Engineer. I think we both know that renting for a good year is probally the best option. Once again Thanks to all that have replied ;) |
