Default Query regarding health card (OHIP)

There is condition that everyone has to spend 153 days in Ontario within every 12 months, my query is how do the health department check whether the person has been really in Ontario for the specific time or not?

Is there any database that they check to determine this?

Perhaps they request that information if required and the onus is on you to provide evidence that you meet the 153 days. If living and working in Ontario then that shouldn't be a problem. If living and working outside Ontario then why would you need OHIP?

You are in India...looking through your last thread...it looks like you are hoping to return to Canada as a PR. From this thread it appears that you are hoping to buck the system and use OHIP right away.

OHIP are pretty stringent in wanting documents to prove residency when applying for or renewing a health card.

Anyone leaving or entering the country, there are immigration records. If one lies to OHIP and get caught out, that could perhaps be fraud, which could jeopardize PR.

Yup, when I applied for OHIP after ten years away the intake person and I sat for about 30 minutes going through my passport stamps and establishing that I had been in Ontario for the required amount of time

Overseas students come to mind. I'm sure they'd like to keep their coverage but I suspect there are provisions for that.

There are:

Longer Absences from Ontario - When can OHIP cover you? - Ontario Health Insurance (OHIP) - Publications - Public Information - MOHLTC
