Quebec driver's license

Hi,

I'm over in Montreal on a temporary work permit and was wondering if anyone could help answer a question I have about the Quebec driver's licenses. The website says that residents can exchange the UK license for a Quebec license without having to take a test due to similar testing standards between the two areas. Does anyone know if this is for permanent residents only or for temporary residents too?

Thanks for any help anyone can give!

do they reissue you a licence on the spot or do they post it to you?

You get your photo taken $ then the licence is issued on the spot.
They do not take your british licence from you.

Lounan is correct, they don't take your license and you get your Quebec one on the same day, bear in mind you have to pay to renew it on your Birthday, so don't go if it's a week before!

Motorcycle license does not transfer though :(

It's also far from Downtown and a bit of a pain to get to, but there is a bus route.
