Quarantine Plan?
We're thinking of going to BC in a few weeks time family. We're both fully vaccinated but one of the requirements is to have a Quarantine Plan uploaded to ArrivCan - do I have to have a hotel booked or is it just what I would do if I had to quarantine?
If we fly BA, we would land in Vancouver and need an overnight stop before flying to Terrace the next day but with Air Canada we can do the Terrace flight the same day - would quarantine be at final destination if needed or would it have to be in Vancouver, our first place of entry? Any help appreciated, thanks |
Re: Quarantine Plan?
I've just returned from a 10 day recce trip and was a bit stumped like you regarding the quarantine plan. I did a bit of digging and they don't actually expect you to have booked a hotel (if exempt which you are as you are vaccinated) but rather, on the off-chance that you were randomly selected for testing upon arrival and you tested positive, you need to know what your plan is. In the ArriveCan app, you literally just need to put the address of the hotel you would stay in. You don't actually have to book it, I think it's more to show an awareness that you know what to do if you HAD to quarantine.
I was very anxious about what questions I'd be asked upon arrival and would they be inspecting my quarantine plan etc., and the immigration officer didn't even ask to see my ArriveCan receipt, just asked me what my purpose of the visit was and that was that. I had a similar problem to you in that I was flying to Calgary but via Toronto; I did my quarantine plan for Toronto as that was our first port of entry, however after submitting my ArriveCan info I read that even if you are randomly selected for testing, you can carry on to your final destination (including catching internal flights) until the result came back. So you could always enter it for Terrace as that's your final destination. I was really anxious about the whole thing but honestly I think if you're vaccinated and, if the immigration officer asks, you can show that you know what you'd do and where you'd go and so on if you did have to, that should satisfy everything. Good luck! |
