Re: Quarantine for COVID 19 discussions.
The 14 day quarantine did not come into effect from day 1 and dependent where you were flying to there was no quarantine. It was also the same if you flew into the USA and then returned across a land border. Canada can choose what it wants to do to protect its border and citizens much like other countries can.
You started this thread in July so was there quarantine in March, April, May and June??????

Did they have to pay the fine? $780 I think?
Cheaper than some hotels around Pearson I'd say

From that link..
"If they do not follow the instructions, there are penalties, including a maximum fine of up to $750,000 or imprisonment for six months."
Feels like living in Stalin's USSR

“Travellers are legally obligated to follow the instructions of a screening officer or quarantine officer through the 14-day period, whether in regards to testing, transit to locations, their mandatory hotel stopover or during quarantine at home or other suitable location,” the agency said in a statement.

I am pretty certain that it was in place by May and June, though.
The "Alberta option" which I deemed quite reasonable only came about later on, but I am not certain, if that option still exists.

The Government of Canada's top priority is the health and safety of Canadians. We are taking unprecedented action to respond to the COVID-19 epidemic. This includes continually assessing the risks to adapt our response accordingly.
The Government of Canada's Emergency Order under the Quarantine Act already requires persons entering Canada—whether by air, land or sea —to isolate for 14 days if they have symptoms of COVID-19, or to quarantine themselves for 14 days if they are asymptomatic to limit the spread of COVID-19.

The Alberta COVID-19 Border Testing Pilot Program is currently suspended and no longer accepting new participants. New travel requirements announced by the Government of Canada are now in effect.

I was also hoping they would expand this to more than 4 airports.
In the end, I was very wrong about this.

When do these restrictions end? (if ever?) What is the threshold? At some point somethings gotta give.

Looking at the chart - it would appear that the numbers are reducing.. so perhaps we're on the way out of this (fingers crossed)
