Hi everyone
I'm living in Calgary on a working holiday visa. I got a job here in April 2009, and filled out an alberta health care form. I wasn't sure whether I was eligible, but the HR people told me I am, so I filled in the form and got the card.
Anyways, I was cleaning up my room the other day and saw the brochure again... and I'm still wondering whether I'm actually eligible. The requirements talk about being legally entitled to make your permanent home in alberta, and not claiming benefits in another country. I'm definitely not entitled to be in alberta permanently, and i do have coverage in australia (not that anybody would ever know about that)
Is there anyone else here on a temporary work permit that has health coverage in Canada? Should I be worried at all?? I'm no great strain on the public health system, but i just want to know that if something goes wrong I'm covered by something.
cheers
Dave

I was on a TWP for 3 yrs - you're covered if that's the case, so can stop worrying.
I don't know if it's different for a BUNAC work permit though.

In ontario it depends on the duration of your work permit if Im not mistaken... has to be long term. Dont know about Alberta though...

The OP is on the Oz equivalent, a working holiday visa, which might or might not have different status to BUNAC.
Briefly put, I dunno.
