Am I missing something here, or does all this mean that if for example you had two identical houses in the same area that the owner of one could be paying twice the property tax of the other just because he might have recently bought in the current Calgary housing market :(

Properties here are assessed annually based on current market value; though usually a bit lower than 'real' market value in our experience - ours just took a huge hike due to the recent increase in market value :eek:
