Property Searches
Hey Guys,
It looks like I might be moving to Toronto in the new year (it's on the immigration thread). So I guess I need to find somewhere to rent, at least to begin with. Are there websites like Rightmove or Trulia I can look at? Also happy to take recommendations on areas as well. Looking for Family Friendly (Two kids 2 & 4 and another on the way) Transport links to the Old Toronto Area. No idea on price yet, but salary scale should be between 80 & 100k So far Bedford Park has stood out, but I'm literally just starting |
Re: Property Searches
Craigslist & Kijiji are popular out this way. Watch out for rental scams though...

Re: Property Searches
Bedford Park is north of Lawrence and around Avenue Road. Its very nice and very expensive! Houses in the $2 million and up region. Rent around 5K for a large family house. Unless a lot of $$ in the bank then way out of line with a 80K or even a significantly larger salary.
I don't want to shatter dreams but Toronto is a really expensive city. I would not even consider trying to live here with 3 kids on that kind of income. I know it can be done and I know many do it, but I wouldn't move countries for the kind of lifestyle it will provide. |
Re: Property Searches
You will be lucky to find any 3 bedroom house anywhere downtown for less than $2500 per month. We have been looking as we have 3 small dogs and decided it would be best to look for an apartment near Don Mills area. Location is close to a lot of green areas .....handy for dogs
Assume $100,000 salary your net monthly income would be $5800 http://neuvoo.ca/tax-calculator/Ontario-100000://. Recommended max pay on rental should be 30% which equates to less than $2000 a month |

Re: Property Searches
Yep, all confirmed. The office I will be working out of is in Vaughan, so that makes things a ilittle cheaper and expands the searches.

Bedford Park doesn't really reflect the diverse range of people who live in Toronto. Not a very affordable place to lay your head when you first move to the City. |
Re: Property Searches
Padmapper (https://www.padmapper.com/apartments/toronto-on). Just make sure you tick 'exclude AirBnB' on the filter.
