Default Property renting agents Nova Scotia

Hi All,

We are moving over to NS in August.

We are looking to rent a property for the first 6 to 12 months.

Any 2/3 bed property within 1 hour of Windsor would be ideal.

Can any one suggest rental agents or sites we could take a look at?

letsrent.ca isnt bad but would be very grateful for any other suggestions.

Many thanks.

Cheers,

Dave and Jo

Have you had a look at Kijiji, Craig's List, and also the Chronicle Herald?

Definately look at Kijiji. Though I would say - plan on booking yourself into a hotel for a week when you get here, and then go about looking for a rental. You will have no problem finding something and it is always much easier than trying to sort it over the phone/pc.

I know what you mean Amy, we're still trying to secure our first months rental and it's not the easiest via internet etc.

We were freaking out about finding something and unless you know the area, it is just too hard to do! Honestly, there are that many rentals here, that staying in a hotel for a week is the best thing to do!

There are apartments to rent from one week to monthly in Halifax

Premierapartments.com (i think) also if you need somewhere temporary to stay until you find a rented place - whilst you are looking etc.

Try a lady called June at Mumford Bed and Breakfast in Halifax - they have a homestay program (house they let in Dartmouth) for expats who are on reccie's or have landed etc -

Mumfordbedandbreakfast.com or Relocationnovascotia.com.

Hope this is of help

Getting a long term rental should be easy enough, but we need furnished accommodation for the first month (as our goods will be in transit. We do have options, (although very expensive).I suppose it doesn't help matters that we're moving in July.
Did you rent long term after your hotel stay?

LOL we actually didn't stay in a hotel! We had spent three weeks staying in hotels as we drive across the Country. We found a holiday let, that was available at a lower price (it was January) and stayed there for a couple of weeks.

We then rented a town house in Clayton Park for 6 months before we purchased this place in Porters Lake.

Yep that's exactly what we've booked for July (St James Place). It is a bit on the pricey side, but there's not much by way of furnished accommodation to choose from.
We also booked our flights today for July 15th.God it's been an expensive day out, so i'm away for a wee lie down......

The view from the laundry room is amazing and if you walk to the bottom of the road you get to where the cruise ships dock each day and theres a lovely walk along the front of the marina to the other end of town, we saw an otter along there and theres the worlds best icecream shop called sugar they mix cake etc into a flavour of your choice a nice treat after a stressful day! Be happy!
