Proof of Funds at Landing
 

Hi all,
When landing, what sort of proof of funds do you need to show the Immigration people ?
Is a letter from my UK bank showing what we have converted into CAD enough ?.

I had recently landed in Toronto and they never asked me to show any proof of funds. The only question they ask is how much money am i bringing to Canada. I told them a number (i don't carry the money with me or anything, i just told them i intend to bring X amount of money in the future, but for the time being, i only have $500 CAN for my landing trip) They had no problem with it and never asked for proofs. To be on the safe side, i think you can just use your bank statement ( i printed my off my e-banking site). That should be sufficient. What are others' experiences?

Hi

Some POE's will take the bank statement, other will insist that you go to an ATM and print off a receipt with the balance.

Sorry to hijack the thread but can I ask a sort of related question. When you apply for PR and have to state the amount of money you are taking, do you have to take that amount or are you allowed to take more or less than you stated ie is this figure set in stone?. If less are you ok as long as its above the minimum requires (just in case a fancied going on a mass spending spree before hand.)?.

It's given on the CIC site, depending on how many people in your party.
