processing times

Hello All,

I was under the impression that the processing times for federal skilled worker from the UK (ie using the CIO in London) was approx 12 months. I have recently looked at the London offices' site but it states:

" Skilled Worker applications received after February 27, 2008: Because these applications are affected by new regulations, an average processing time is currently not available. Do not contact us for case status enquiries within 9-12 months of submitting your application"

Does anyone have an idea to processing times for someone in my scenario. I'm in the military and have to submit 12 months notice and I would like to try and time it as best I can.

Thanks

If you qualify for the FSW route then six to twelve months is a realistic expectation. You may wish to read the following thread for actual current timelines for FSW applicants:

Cheers and good luck!

We waited 36 months before hearing anything at all, then we received a letter asking for our paperwork, then medicals etc. The total time was approx 39 months.

We applied as federal skilled workers.

We were one of the 1st under the new system so may be quicker now

You can't have been if you say it took 39 months - as it was only the end of February 2008 that they announced they were changing the system so 25 months ago! Did you apply just before February 2008? If so, you will have been processed under the old system.

All post Feb 2008 applications were done under the new system, but that wasn't implemented until October 2008, so anybody that applied between Feb and Oct 2008 were put on hold until Oct 2008, and it was only then that they started processing. Certainly recently the average time has been about 8 months from start to finish.

:)

Just a slight correction, CIO Nova Scotia started processing FSW1 applications in Nov 26/08. The first 120 Day letters went out in about Jan/09

I was pleasantly surprised as one of the last in the old system. It took about 18 months from application to visa.

However, to keep me calm in the interim, I used a website called trackitt.com. People enter their timelines and it allows you to see how everyone else in the queue is doing.

Good Luck!!!
