Pricey Internet...

Apparently Canada is the second most expensive place to post crap onto a web forum from (link). Is anyone here surprised?

87 dollars? WTF are people paying that for? Mine's only $30 dollars and that's in Canadian money.

If you had enough time on your hands, you could work out how much each post costs you, based upon the cap of your connection (60GB per month seems to be fairly standard).

That was my reaction. Not sure where 87 comes from.

Likewise - $62 sounds like BS for a US connection.... Unless they're talking Fibre to the home!

Although the article has yesterdays date, the chart is dated 2008. Perhaps they screwed up converting the CAD to US $ ?? Anyway, $87.32 gets you HSI and telephone around here..

I assume that it costs more out in the hoondocks which will skew the average a bit.

Yup, but even out here where there's no competition except from satellite internet, it's "only" $63 per month for our microwave/wireless high speed () internet... It is at a particularly unimpressive speed for that price, mind you...

I don't think you'd count as speedy enough to be in the survey. Not that I can comment on it's veracity as I don't know anybody paying that much either (I know I'm not, but then you'd expect it to be cheap in the city)

Not sure if that's good or not. Seems good enough to post crap on internet forums. :)

Even mine's good enough for that, but I can't even play a 2 minute youtube clip without it stopping and starting. I have to hit pause as soon as it starts downloading and then let it play when the progress bar is at least halfway along

Still a damn site better than using a 56kbps dial up modem I suppose...

That might be the case. Averages are typically misleading.
