Default PR Renewal/Citizenship

Just a quickie...my PR officially runs out at the end of April this year, however my PR card is valid until Jan 2016 (had to replace it in 2010)..i am planning to apply for citizenship in the spring..now do i need to renew my PR card or just keep the one i have until my citizenship is processed?

How does your PR run out in April? Through being out of the country?

If you have maintained your residency requirements i.e. the 3 years in 5 years then your PR doesn't ever expire. (Assuming you don't do something illegal and get deported of course.) Your PR card expires after 5 years and then requires replacement. That's an administrative procedure and nothing to do with PR itself.

On your card if it says Jan 2016 then you're good until then I would just apply for citizenship as the process will take you till 2015 probably, which is before your PR card runs out again.
