PR Options?

Hi,

I've tried this thread on the Immigration forum without success so I'm wondering if anyone here has experience of Travel Documents??

Specifically, I have an expired PR Card which I understand I can still renew even though I have not spent the prerequisite 730 days in Canada i.e. aparently I'm allowed to do so due to the fact that I have been with my Canadian wife for the prerequisite period living in the U.k..

I understand that one option is to get a Travel Document (Perminent Resident Abroad) and re-enter Canada and renew my PR Status but this has highlighed a couple of questions in my mind;

1. Is this the only process for 'renewing my PR status' i.e. rather than travelling to Canada with a Travel Doc can't I simply renew the my PR status from the UK and receive a new PR card here ... or do they only issue PR cards once you are in Canada??

2. Lastly, (and as its been a while) can somebody please remind me what is the process for obtaining a new permanent Residency Card once in Canada i.e. to whom do I apply, where do I apply, do I need to apply in person, how long does the process take and critically given our plans, do I need to remain in Canada whilst awaiting my new Permanent Residency card and collect it in person or can I simply provide a Canadian address for it to be posted to (the mother in law’s?) whilst I travel back and forth to the UK?
