PR - How Long?

I've read in various threads on this forum about the long wait for PR status after a job offer.

How long is it currently taking? In particular, how long should one allow from making the application to a provisional start date? Six months? A year?

Advice from some experienced hands would be much appreciated!

Gary.

from applying for PR, yes you are going to have to give yourself at least a year. It may be quicker, it may be longer but thinking longer is better than plannign for too soon.

If you have a job offer you could try and get them to get HRDC verification and get a work permit, then you could go and work there while waiting for PR.

My PR came through in 6 months, but I was already living in Canada and I already had a job in IT. So I guess it depends on the person and the job.
