PR fee refunds

Hey,

Does anyone know how to start the ball rolling on getting the refunds that are due on people who paid the higher bracket of PR fees once they have landed in Canada??

Thanks,

Chris

Get a Refund of Permanent Residence Fee form (available in pdf format) from the CIC site. Present this at landing to Immigration with receipt of payment of residence fee and give them an address to which they can mail it. Failing that, if you are not going to land for a while then post it to them.

Our contacts in Canada (lawyers  ) said that as we were not issued a receipt we just say so on the form. I assume we can do this as we will be handing the documents over as we pass through Immigration (can't really argue that we didn't pay the fee then can they? :D )

Landing on 14th August - Gagggh. Someone stop the clock.

Hi Chris :)
We filled out the refund form (CIC sent it to us) and posted it back.
You can give an alternative address if you dont know where your gonna be living eg family. Ours turned up last week which was nice :D

Hi Chris
Like everyone else has said, you can access the refund form from the cic.gc.ca website.
The form requests a copy of the receipt though. I too have paid the full amount and the only proof I have is the acknowledgement card CIC sent to say they recieved my application. (I'm sure that previous bank statements will be sufficient proof since we all had to pay it in canadian funds through the bank/building society)

Anyway, I read on the CIC website that if you paid the fees outside of Canada and have not had your visa issued yet, they will automatically refund your money upon handing you your visa if you haven't already made your claim
I personally am not going to do anything and wait until I - hopefully - get my visa and then they will refund me the difference

Hope that helps
Lindsey

Hi Carly

When did you send the form off to Ottawa to get the refund? Mine should be going off this week hopefully - just wondering how long it will take for the cheque to come.

Slightly off topic here, but anyone know how I go about getting a FULL refund of a PR fee when I turned down my COPR last month?

(And please don't ask why I turned it down - it's been done to death elsewhere!)

We got a form from CIC London with our returned Visa's. You have to fill out the form and give an address for them to return the money to. They say that it can take up to 6 months and suggest that unless you know your Canadian address for the next 6 months you have it sent to a friend (better be a good one :scared: ) or relative (preferably one you don't owe money to or you'll never see any of it!).

I can't believe it! we got our refund back this morning. I gave my parents address as we don't know where we will be living when we get there. We haven't even left the country yet! We got our visas 2 weeks ago and I sent the form back straight away with a contacting address. I never expected to get a cheque this quickly! :D

Hey has anyone out there who paid fee online from Canada gotten a refund back yet?

I looked at the download refund form and it seems to only be for people who paid outside canada. there does not seem to be one for those of us who paid in canada.
