PR card address when landing
We will be staying in a holiday home for the first month when arriving in Vancouver should I give this address for my PR card and then go on-line, I read that you can do this somewhere, to change the address when we have a more permanent rental if PR cards have not arrived yet?
Or should I not give the holiday home address and say to the immigration officer that I do not have a fixed address as yet and then wait until we have a more perm rental and then sort out the right address on-line when settled? I have read that you get 6 months to give a perm address and after that you have to pay a fee. We have no friends / family in Vancouver so can not give an alternative address. Also once you receive your PR card and then change address do you need to inform them of your new address or does this not matter? |
Re: PR card address when landing
Have you a job to go to, maybe use employers address?

Re: PR card address when landing
No job yet so have no alternative address to use.
Just wondering what others have done, those without family or friends already out there, and if giving a holiday home address how easy is it to update address online once you have a more perm place to stay if PR cards not arrived? Many thanks |

Many thanks I doubt they will send overseas but they might make an exception. If you have no job then what was the visa issued for, family sponsor or based on skills? |
Re: PR card address when landing
No, they do not send overseas. A PR card is only sent to a Canadian address.
To the OP, you can get this information from the wiki: http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Perman...nt_Card-Canada |

do the embassy/high commission in your country have any advice?

Was just after others experiences in how they dealt with this when they had no family, or friends address to send it too. But yes the Wiki does explain everything and what I thought was correct. Many thanks for the replies. |

You do not have to inform CIC if you move once you have your PR cards. |
Re: PR card address when landing
Here are the current Pr card processing times http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa.../perm-card.asp So you should be living at least a couple of weeks longer than that at the address you gave them for your PR card after landing. Ask if you could pick your card up in person. Also as far as I know you don't have to tell them a change of address after you received your card. You will update your address when it comes to renewing the PR card. Here is some info on change of address etc.
