power transformers
Can someone give me some advice please? We've brought out a very nice stereo and went into town to buy a power transformer. In town, it costs nearly $200, but on the internet it seems I can get one from as little as $15!
Is there something specific I need to look for? The back of the stereo says 230-240v.
Has anyone bought a transformer that will cover this, how did it work, and roughly what was the cost for you (plus where did you buy it)? Thanks

I waited until I was in Canada to purchase it and it took about 4 days for the delivery to come through. I run an English widescreen TV, X-Box, DVD player and stereo off the 1500 one and it works fine.

Re: power transformers
Just make sure that you have enough power to support what you need
and work on the basis motors and TV will spike at about 4x there rated power for the first second or two
HiFi's are not so bad
if you don't allow enough head room in the power capacity of your tranformer then all you do is create a fire risk
and don't forget to check that your appliance will run on 60hz
