Power Station Workers
Hello All,
Can anyone tell me if all power station workers in Nova Scotia who work on operations/generation need to be certified as power engineers, or is it just the management/supervisory levels which need the certification. As I understand it everyone working on plant needs to at least be at 3rd Class working towards their 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate. I currently work at a large coal fired power station in England and am hoping to take my 4th class certificate in October when we land to activate our PR |
Re: Power Station Workers
http://www.gov.ns.ca/lae/equipmentsafety/engineer.asp lists pretty much everything you need to know I think (go to Q&A).
Q. Are there any new certifications in the regulations? A. Yes, we have introduced an “Unfired Power Boiler Plant Operator†certificate. This will replace the restricted fourth class certificate being used for unfired boiler plants. Q. Does it matter what class of ticket an operator has in operating a first class boiler plant? A. Yes. In a first class boiler plant, the chief power engineer is required to have a first class power engineers certificate; the shift power engineer is required to have a second class power engineers certificate; and, all other assistant shift power engineers are required to have, as a minimum, a third class power engineers certificate :) Edit: More info here: http://www.sopeec.org/ and http://www.ipemaritimes.com/ |
