Any comments? Using them for the first time next week to Toronto

don't think I've ever heard anything neagtive about them, Other than the NIMBYs around here moaning about the noise.

Ben's flown to Ottawa with them , good experience. We hope to use them to NS in the summer, I'm really looking forward to it

The Mrs & small AX flew from St John's to Ottawa via YHZ over Easter. Aside from the flight being delayed in both directions - more due to weather than anything else - they found the service pretty good. 2+2 seating and smallish planes. Oh yes and free booze, unlike AC!

great service - much better then lugging it up to Pearson

Re: Porter Airlines

i flew them ottawa to toronto and theyre good. as someone else said its 2x2 seating and a fairly small plane, but friendly hostesses, offer snacks and drinks. my flight was really smooth and was no different to flying any other airline in terms of safety.

they fly into toronto city airport, which is so quick and easy to the city - love it. its a really small airport but we just picked up our bags then they have a free ferry to the 'mainland' (very short ride, like 10 mins) then theres a free bus to union station (which is also very quick).

The ferry to the mainland ain't 10 minutes. It's about 40 seconds :) I take it several times a week. It only runs from each side every 15 minutes, but the trip itself is so quick.

And yes Porter is good. It's what flying used to be like, you remember back when it was fun.

Love 'em to bits. The service has gone down slightly over the last couple of years but I think that's because they have grown so fast. The service is still bloody good, though. I don't even consider other options when I go to TO.

It's very fast, too. Toronto to Ottawa is 45 minutes, gate to gate. It is perhaps not for nervous fliers. Turboprops are not flown the same way as big jets and can be a bit alarming at first.

Thanks, makes a lot of sense especially with a meeting at the Fairmont Royal York. Ive flown in a few Turbo props but didnt really notice (other than the increased noise levels) any difference.

Porter runs a free shuttle bus to the Royal York. And ask for a seat on the right-hand side of the plane (good view).

Thats the key. I dont relish an hour transfer from Pearson especially as theres not a direct link downtown on public transport. I believe there are plans to introduce a direct train link at some point?

I saw the plan for the rail link, iirc it's coming in 1987.

Usually fly with them for work when go to Toronto. They're really good.

If you're coming/going from Ottawa, make sure you use the Porter lounge. Free coffee and stuff and really nice and quiet/comfortable.

In fact, better than Air Canada's Maple Leaf lounge in Ottawa, which I though was pretty crap.

Can get a bit of turbulence over the island from time to time especially in winter - as someone mentioned, the planes are small and have had a few bumpy landings.

Having a young daughter as I know you do SAW, I offer the following advice:

Apparently the Porter Airlines teaspoons from their lounge are just the right size for feeding small children with. We appear to have a small collection of them now which I'm sure Mrs AX didn't take from their lounge at Ottawa.;)

So in real time that would be 2027?
