Please do research before you just decide to come and stay!

Re: Please do research before you just decide to come and stay!
I've always assumed that if a person is caught working illegally they would get booted out and wouldn't be welcome back even if they tried the legal way. A cousin was thrown out of Oz for working illegally and was told he wouldn't be welcome back under any circumstances. This was a while ago though.
When he got to the Canadians they were about to stick him on a plane asap and fly him at his own cost back to Scotland. He wangled a 2 week stay out of them however and then flew home. He then went back to the states a year later and has been living there since 1981!!! Legally I may add and is now a US citizen.
I still don't know how he did it?

Does *didnt have the right work permit* mean she has the WP and it is fixed to one job? I find it hard to beleive that he worked in a firm who turned a blind eye to this. You cant fart here without having to show id and Provincial id, for which you need to show a right to be here...........passport and a permit. Are we leaping to assumptions here?
Now I know everyone needs income to survive but if you love the country and lifestyle don`t ruin your chances of being kicked out by not doing things by the book. And to advise her daughter that living with a Canadian for 2 months will make her application go quicker that defies belief.
I will say 2 things here, 1) We will probably see them tonight and I`ll give her some pointers on the basics - i`m no expert but understand the fundamentals 2)The point of this thread is not to have a go, more a cautionary tale because if they screw up they will get kicked out, and although i`m 100% sure she has no work visa it`s not for me to rock the boat, grass anyone up etc, more give some guidelines on staying here properly.
And I don`t wish them dead - a tad more educated maybe but not dead.

I'm not really sure what the point of this thread is but i'd like to relay a story thats about to unfold here -
Yesterday I bumped into a nice lady from Scotland in the coffee shop in the morning. We chatted about Canada and things and then got onto the subject of the whole immigration / paperwork thing..........snip.............
Apparently they are in the process of applying for PR but TBH I think all thats going to happen is that they will get kicked right back to Dunfermline..........snip...........

maybe they follow the rational of
"It is easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission "

So she has a work permit of some kind that needs to be amended for the new job, and her fella is possibly on an open permit resulting from her permit, or else is also on a permit of some kind. Whats the big deal?
Gossip, thats all this thread is, there are no hard facts to go on. You dont know squat about these peoples circumstances. Another possibility is they came under some sort of Bunac program and time is running out. You know, Bunac? the "working holiday" permit. That seems to fit the circumstances here.
As for her daughter who looks 16, who knows. My 28year old friend was ID'd here because she didnt look 18. For all you know her daughter is 20some.
The only genuinely stupid thing about this is the thought that by living for two months with a Canadian she will make the slightest impression on CIC. That hardly sounds like a spousal arrangement to me yet.
Its easy to think the worst, but that doesnt necessarily make it true, there are many legitimate ways for people to get in a similar situation, and there are a fair number of PRs and citizens who arrived on a Bunac permit and managed to leverage that into a good job with a work permit within the year.

Well as the upper age for BUNAC up until last year was 35, then they must have been very young parents.
Mr L2S and I are still being ID'd. But it also means that the time share people at Whistler never bother us

I think the Brits are most likely the biggest offenders when it comes to illegal immigration, I can't tell you how many stories I have heard about people who go legally to the US and Aus etc and just overstay their visa when it runs out, thinking that they'll somehow get away with it because they are British. Or on the US immigration boards, the number of Brits who are genuinely shocked to hear that they can't just get on a plane to Florida and buy a house and stay here forever.
Just being British doesn't entitle you to do whatever you please! The Consulate won't come and get you if you mess up!
It's all quite ironic really, considering how much the Brits whine about immigrants in their own country...

Mind you there were two British women who were deported a couple of years back, unfortunately they worked in a cafe just across from CIC in Vancouver and inadvertently let the cat out of the bag.
Also there was a woman in ON who posted on a spousal yahoo group who wanted to use all her postings on that group to prove her long lasting relationship () the moderator nearly had kittens and was really concerned about any legal ramifications. Eventually the woman (who geneuinely seemed to think that the course of true love would enable her to live in Canada) was deported (along with her Brit born children )

I've already asked around about 'cash in hand' for posing for less salubrious magazines in Canada but I have neither the muscular figure nor the history in the RAF to back me up so have since abandoned that route into Canada. Sadly.

.lol. My 24 year old uncle did exactly the same. Thankfully the television industry (paid audience/clapper on demand) and gay porn industry (*cough* use your imagination) apparently don't ask questions when they come to hand out your paycheque. He overstayed his welcome there by about 9 months and has been back since.

Seriously, if you have a 24 yr old uncle it sounds like you too are young enough to come over with a Bunac Work visa? www.bunac.org
Good luck
