Re: Planning to move to Nova Scotia

:scared:

Hi,

We spent christmas 2004 out in Nova Scotia and absolutely fell in love with the place, it is just amazing.

We are now thinking seriously about coming out to live but we are unsure as to how we go about with the visa's etc, we have been reading up on it all and i think my head is about to explode with all the information.

My husband is a qualified electrician and is currently an Electrical Engineer/consultant for a large bank here in the UK. He has to take courses to enable him to work as an electrician out in Nova scotia as the regulations are very different out their.

But as regards the visa business, i think we would be ok getting out there on a visa for skilled workers.

We didn't realise the cost involved in applying for visa's etc, for husband, myself and my daughter aged 12 we will be looking at approx $3,200 canadian dollars, does anyone know if you still have to pay this if we managed to get sponsored by a company out their?

If anyone can help us in anyway i would very much appreciate it.

we are looking to come out for good in the summer all being well, and the area we want to move to is Tatamagouche/Pugwash.

Thanks for your help

Rachael :o

Dont pin a date on when you want to come over as you will only be disappointed. Many will tell you on here that if you havent put in your paperwork yet then there is no way you will be here in a few months more like a couple of years. As for sponsorship do searches for other threads on it as it is not as straight forward as you would think it would be especially here in Nova Scotia. On a better note, NS provincial government have just appointed their first immigration minister so fingers crossed a lot of the provincial nominee program will be ironed out a bit.

Welcome to the Nova Sotia community (or on their way). There must be about 20 or so of us. :) My family are heading up the other end of the annapolis valley near Wolfville.
Bear River (Little Switzerland) very nice. I noticed a B&B for sale there.
Perhaps you were attracted by the neaby theme park or great whale watching off the Digby neck! I got to see a whale from the shore....cool!
