Plane Tickets?

Hi, I am flying probably in July one way ticket from Heathrow England to Toronto. Just wondered what kind of prices are good for that time of year. I know its summer so prices might be high right? Buying a one way I am hoping will save some money there but not sure. Any advice for where I should look for cheapest flights and also is it worth booking it now in advance if prices might work out better to book now for july.
Any advice would be great.

If you are flying scheduled airline such as BA or Air Canada you will not get a one way deal, it's cheaper to book a return and just don't use the return bit.

Normally if you want to book BA you're better off doing it as early as possible as they are unlikely to reduce prices nearer the time. I was looking at prices for London/Vancouver 2 weeks ago and in the space of a week they went up by £100 each way!!!!!

As Printer says, the longer you leave it, the more it'll cost you. July flights are always going to be pricey, so the earlier you book, the better.

If you are flexible about dates and have nerves of steel, you might consider waiting until the very last minute and trying a consolidator (bucket shop).

What is a consolidator (bucket shop)????

Is that some kind of last min deals for spaces left on certian flights?

If you are looking for cheap and cheerful, try Air Transat (Canadian Affair) or Zoom.

Pretty much. The scheduled airlines know that any money they can get for unfilled seats is money they wouldn't otherwise have. So they let the bucket shops sell them. Those guys work on razor-thin margins.

The airlines are quite good at forecasting how many normal-price seats they will sell on a given flight. They will often pass on 'spare' seats to consolidators months in advance.

Talk to a travel agent. Give them a range of dates, if you can, and ask for the best they can do. Might work, might not.

or have a look in somewhere like www.expedia.co.uk or www.opodo.co.uk, they search the scheduled airlines and then link you to the website if you see one you like

good luck :D

Today I have spent ages researching, (on the internet), a flight for my mother to Vancouver from Bristol, Heathrow or Gatwick. I inputted different dates to see what the variation was and came up with some pretty good deals, just by playing with the dates. Gatwick offered the cheapest in her case, half the price of flights from Heathrow.

Try;

Air Transat

Canadian Affair

Fly Globespan

Iglu Canada

Zoom

Hope these help.

Hi Angela, no, cast free now, and back to work next Monday on restricted duties. My ankle is still very stiff and swollen, so I have some NHS physio exercises to do and hobble along ungracefully. As of yesterday I am driving again and can't wait to get out on my Harley.
Thanks for asking,

Robin :)

Robin - Glad to hear you're back on your feet again - if you want to give the Harley a really good run, pop down to see us. Angela

Yikes, by the time I'm able to I'll have to do that 'swimming across the atlantic' bit! :p
Thanks for the thought, it would be nice to meet my future nearly neighbours! :)
