I hope that being new to the boards and having a natural background in Relocation support (and posting a link along with my attachments to find more Canada pics in a Canada pic thread) does not offend anybody else here besides dbd33?
Ok, now back to contributing positively...

I was aware of the signature option, and I do read the rules of the forums I participate in.
The reason you do not see any signature, or link in my signature, is because I am not spamming! I am not here to promote - just to contribute.
Note to self: Do Not Post Free, On-Topic, Helpful Resources as part of a relevant thread on the boards.
I hope that helps. No problem.

Give the guy a break, he aint exactly peddling kiddie porn. Perhaps a few ex-pats or people in the process may get some info from his input.. Keep your inquisitive fingers off link if you dont like where the guys is coming from. To be honest I am more alarmed about peoples naivety posting personal pics, phone numbers etc...This is a public access forum I am amazed that people are not more wary.

If hes a helpful new poster without an affiliation to that site, who found a useful site then fair enough, its an honest mistake. Its still not as useful a site as settlement.org no matter how you look at it.
Have to agree about personal photos, there are a few weirdos around, like the way someone pretended to be me during my paternal absence :scared:, dragging up a photo I'd posted a little while before in another thread. No photos of my family will appear here. (pink blob baby pictures dont count...shes changed so much already that those probably dont matter)

Re: Photos
Thanks again to everyone who is contributing to this thread.
There really is some breathtaking photos in here! I love photos of the 'less travelled' areas of Alberta and British Columbia - nice to see the D.T. Freeway near Banff!
A couple more...and instead of highlighting the contrast to UK/Europe, here is a little piece of 'old world' charm in the heart of Toronto:
1. Casa Loma - Toronto's 'Castle'
- Quite an interesting story about the original owner of this place.
2. The Gardens at Casa Loma.
- One of many terraces on the grounds of Toronto's mighty 'castle'.
3. Ornate fireplace from inside Casa Loma.
- Search 'casa loma' in a search engine to find the story behind this place.
4. Example of the 'old world' woodwork that you can find inside Casa Loma.
- The city of Toronto now runs this location (with the help of a service club), and it has gone through many incarnations to end up how it is today.
If you are vacationing in Toronto, you many want to add this spot to your venue list.
Cheers,
Paul-F

The only reason I have such a skewed view of this potential is years spent working for the Probation service, I had to listen to all the scams some of these guys were up to, and flavour of the month with many offenders was using chatrooms/forums to stalk and get information out of people, the results probably are not so they can compare doggy pictures.
I know if I posted my picture the thread would be shut down due to public decency violation.

On the one hand, I take your point and was mocking myself over the excessive use of dog pictures. On the other, I live with someone I met from the Guardian talkboard and we often socialise with other Guardian posters (that's how I know Souvenir), so I can't say that all internet encounters end badly. I guess I have met fifty people socially from the internet and very many more who are clients first known from that source. Of all these people, only one turned out to be like someone you'd expect to meet on the internet.

I am sure its a good way to socialise/ meet people, generally probably 99% of people on BE have good intentions and I was not suggesting that all encounters will end badly. To be honest the scams I heard actual physical contact was not their intention, just to glean information.
I did say I had a skewed view of the world, and having spent every day for 4-5 years with crims you become a little cynical, I once asked a senior about best policy for personal safety, health & safety etc, His reply was assume everyone has a deadly infectious disease and that they want to kill you.
