Hey Iain, haven't seen you on the board in a while - what are your impressions of Onatrio since you landed?

Hi Ray,

Thanks for your concerns, well its been a bit of a roller coaster, but overall we are enjoying it. To tell you the truth, I'm working for a living now and have been knackered (even though its the same company).

We took a basement apartment pending the home owners moving out, they kept extending there stay, everytime we were poised to move upstairs something cropped up.

Ohip has been a BIG worry (Jo my wifes nearly 7 months pregnant), my company have some big HR changes taking place so I was basically being ignored. No one @ the ministry of health could tell us the costs of child care, then the obstetrician said how much it was going to be ... $1200 per night in the hospital, $800 per hour if she needs to go into theatre, $100 for the delivery team ... etc. I told work that basically I need either a letter saying I have a job for 3 years (subject to terms & conditions) or we need to return to the UK. I was confident that they needed me, and yesterday I received a letter.

Tonight we went to the MOH and applied for OHIP - the guy made a mistake on my wifes eligibliity date (should have been 16th Oct) and made it 16th Sept, we were both amazed and over the moon, we could not have asked for a better mistake, so as of next week all her visits to the doctor are covered.

Car insurance ... well I can see why the prices are high in Ontario, these retards with SUV's who undertake at 70kms then cut back in are a liabillity, why do people change from nice to possessed when they get in there car?

The highway 401 whilst frantic is still less stressfull than the M25 & M1, I guess having so many lanes people get comfortable where they are! We paid $4900 for a year, reducing to $3300 when I get my driver education.

We both love the space, the friendlyness of people (when not in their car), marmite on the shelves of loblaws & no frills. Jo thought racoons were great too but soon learnt they are a bloody nuisance when the bin bags went out early.

Ray, I have misplaced your phone number, can you PM me it so I can get in touch?

Thanks Iain
