to call uk from BC, should they dial. 011-44-2380-XXX-XXX for uk area code 02380?

and 011-44-7724-XXX-XXX for an 07724 mobile number?

wanted to check before i put it on CVs and businss cards for dh to hand out during our recce trip in october ( eek 5 weeks)

You might also want to let them know that unlike here, it is really expensive to call a UK mobile number.

i have put (UK) next to the mobile number. TBH he will be passing his resume out the cards are just an extra for building contacts etc. got a good deal on free business cards ( search for free business cards) if you pay £1.49 you get the advertising taken off the back they look really professional and are easy peasy. having chosen a simple style i can make dh's resume match that and have them co-ordinate.

of course then he will get a job with just a handshake and a 10 minute chat about how the crane industry is cool, eh? but its important to make the effort

LOL there was me trying to be all coy and not put in links ( incase i got infracted) yes it was vistaprint.

good tip re the canadian mobile, assuming you can get PAYG ones there? and just load up a heap of credit?

yup - or you can just by a sim card and credit - cheaper if you buy the phone as well, but depends if you want 2 phones - think rogers sim is about $40

could you recommend a service provider? we have not looked into that at all yet? preferring to rely on email as we can access that from anywhere.

do 3g phones work there or do they have to be canadian phones? and can you get one in a supermarket type place or do we need to go to a phone shop?

i have a handheld printer i can add the canadian mobile on the back of the cards once we bought it, not great but difficult to mess about with printers etc on the fly.

will deffo bring a laptop with us and add his canadian mobile to the contact details on the resume, but then need to get them printed out somewhere.

am i overthinking this?

The only ones that you can get SIMS from are Rogers and Fido - then you can use yr exsiting or an old phone from uk - most seem to work - I went into the rogers shop and they put a sim in my uk phone first to make sure it worked . .

some of the bigger supermarkets have phone outlets but not all sell sims - better to go to a Rogers / fido store- all online so you can find nearest to where you are - or somwhere like wireless wave that does all the phone or future shop . . . .

or yu could just get a cell from someone else -they all do pay as yuo go

Bear in mind that it may cost a Canadian a lot more to dial a UK mobile (07) number compared to a landline (01/02).
