P45 lost, can you get a replacement?

Hiya all

Not sure which forum to put this in, so hopefully this one is ok!

We are belatedly applying for our tax rebate on form P85, but i cant find my
P45. Does anyone know if you can get a replacement? Can they sort out the rebate without this? Its really bugging me that i cant find the thing, must be in a safe place somewhere but damned if can find it.

Thanks

Submit the P85 with the details of the P45 attached (on the basis you do know these??? - ie name & details of employer, period of employment, Gross and tax deducted.)

Request copy from your employer - or letter on letterhead confirming details.

Hi Batty

Used to work for the Inland Revenue - can hear you all going boo hisss:rofl:

If you submit the form with details of the employment including your employee number for the payroll then the Inland Revenue will be able to contact the employer for confirmation what is on your PAYE records.

Having no P45 should be no problem except a slight delay whilst they get this info from previous employer

Hope this helps

That won't work - employers are not permitted to provide copies.

As Gay has said above, you need to contract the Tax Office.

Actually think it is a fraudulent act for an employer to provide a duplicate P45 !

Anothere option is - do you have your very last pay slip ? This would show all of the figures on your P45 ie Taxable Pay and all of the tax paid from 6/4/06 to the date you left eomployment.

You are thinking of the P60 - I have received a copy of my P45 so it can be done.

Why do you want a "contract" with the tax office?
