Yup. I think mine's 1987. The stuff on the hill is much newer. The amount of construction going on up here is astonishing.

I'm in a 1986 circa home in Kanata and the single car homes look like that a lot.

How about this photo I took in Orleans last year (mid March)...this guy piled up all the snow from his driveway onto a very narrow strip of grass between his driveway and his neighbours.

Re: Ottawa Info
Looking at the photos, they're amazing. People in Victoria go crazy when we get 5-10 cms of snow!!

We get earthquakes, too.
Is it similar to out here on the west coast in which we are told that we must expect/prepare for the "Big One", a catastrophic, 9.0 + quake, that will cause, well, em, problems...(it's the price you pay for natural beauty) or are they a bit more minor in nature in Ottawa? There was one here this morning at 5.25 am, I slept through it and never felt a thing! |
Re: Ottawa Info
I just wanted to follow up on an earlier question I had about renting. Would you say this posting is genuine:
http://www.usedottawa.com/classified-ad/8094631 In comparison to Victoria, that would be really good for the price. |

Re: Ottawa Info
Also remember that although Gatineau is sort of part of the Ottawa region, you will be in Quebec if you move to Gatineau. Property prices definitely are cheaper there, but you will be playing with a whole different set of rules. Quebec likes to do things differently. I don't know details, but for example, the way you'd file your taxes would be different. I think I also heard that if you're married, they don't recognize your wife's married name. She'd have to use her maiden name. (I'm not a 100% sure about that so if anyone knows for sure, please let me know). Anyway, just to give you a heads up that living in Quebec is a different ball game. Cheers!
