Ottawa to expand fast-tracking for foreign workers
From today's Calgary Herald.
Ottawa wants to fast-track more temporary foreign workers to address "immediate and deep labour shortages" in B.C. and Alberta, federal Human Resources Minister Monte Solberg said Friday. Recently, Solberg announced a pilot project to slash red tape in the construction, tourism, hospitality and health care sectors in the two western provinces. It can now take just five days to get permission to hire a foreign worker, when it used to take five months. |

Re: Ottawa to expand fast-tracking for foreign workers
Hi
It's OK fast tracking applications, but unless they can fast track the red seal trade processes, etc, It won't help much. It took me 6 months to get my red seal electrician, and10 months for generator technician status. ( about average timescale for both ) What is needed is for foreign qualifications to be easily transferable to canadian ones. Cheers Jerry |
