OSAP student loan

I received an offer of a place on a Counselling Psychology Doctorate in the UK exactly 5days after landing in Toronto.

I intend to accept the offer and return to the UK to do it....

Can I apply for a loan... to fund this...

Help please

You've been resident for 5days? I doubt it. Have you asked OSAP?

I have been doing a lot of digging since I started the thread..

I havent asked them yet... but I did read about the 12mths residency rule being waived for landed immigrants and the university is listed in the approved institutions list... I will give them a call on monday

The loan will give access to two grants - Women in postdoctoral studies and students with dependents. The latter combined will almost cover my fees. I dont really intend to touch the loan

You're right - Mr B (new PR) was eligible for Manitoba loans the minute he got here, but he ended up not taking them out... but that was for a course specifically for foreign qualified people, and the course was in Canada.

I'd be surprised if they give a loan for an overseas course to a non-resident PR, but I'd be pleased for you if I was wrong :)
