Hey fellow ex-pats.

I'm a Canadian Citizen having emigrated to Ontario Canada in 2009 from Wales.

I have a UK bank (savings) account with around 9k in it but am looking to open an investment account similar to Wealthsimple, Quest-Trade etc to trade myself via their APP.

Can this be opened in the UK while living in Canada? Or should I either leave it there? or transfer it to Canada?

My understanding is that you can keep existing accounts once you’ve moved, but can’t open a new account as a non-UK resident. And there are restrictions on existing accounts - I don’t think you can add to a tax free savings account for example.
