Ontario outdoor license fishing ?

Can the outdoor fishing license be purchased completely online?

How long does it take for the card to arrive in the mail?

I just Googled that, and it would seem from my brief perusal that it seems easy to 'renew' your license on-line, but that one might have to get the initial license offline.

I presume? That all of this changes Provincially? Here in NB it was the work of moments to get a license in Canadian Tire. Happy Fishing:thumbup:

apparently, in Ontario you can apply for your first fishing license online.

hunting, that's different of course.

Saltwater licences are from the federal government and yes, you can get them online. Although by the looks of it that would only count in northern Ontario, and it'd be ice fishing until June.

I meant this one:

Didn't know there was a difference between saltwater and sweet water in terms of licenses?
Is there one in your province?

Yes, there's both fresh and salt water licences in BC. Fresh water ones are issued by the province and they are more spendy than the federal salt water ones.

That's BC, due to the geography there, I guess.

Ontario's access to salt water is very very remote, up north. I think it's very rare for one to go there..

You'll have to get yourself out to BC. :)

Go to Canadian Tire and purchase your initial fishing licence or else buy it online.

Google.ca is your friend!

I got one of the blue cards (although it turns out I didn't need to bother as I only wanted a day license) when a group of us went up to sit for half a day on Lake Simcoe and drop minnows on a stick down a hole in the ice. A somewhat overrated pastime, in my admittedly very limited experience...

For anything longer than a day license, you need an "outdoor card" and then the license itself. The online application for the outdoor card lets you print out a receipt which serves until the card itself comes in the mail - just over a week in my case. The fishing license itself if a piece of paper you can print out from the online portal.
