One-way travel insurance
We are finally moving to Ontario at the end of the month, after a more than four-month delay due to Covid.
We have health insurance to cover the first three months in Canada before we're eligible for OHIP, but what about 'regular' travel insurance for the journey for lost luggage etc?
When booking standard travel insurance for a holiday you obviously have to specify a return date, but we won't have one. Do we need special 'one-way' insurance because of our inability to give a return date?

I suggest making a few calls tomorrow or using the power of the Google. Perhaps someone on this site has experience of this but might be a few days before they reply or knowing my luck within 5 minutes after I have posted this.

@crofty82 just a heads up, Ontario are currently waiving the usual 3 month wait period for OHIP. Any newcomer will have immediate access to health services should they need them. We found this out when we landed last month Worth keeping an eye on it though in case they change this back.

We are off to New Brunswick in a few weeks with PR. We know that they have no waiting time for their Medicare. How does it work if medical care was needed before we physically got our Medicare cards? Is COPR all that would be needed?

Slightly related question, I hope it’s OK.

Suggest you have a read of the wiki for Ontario here: https://britishexpats.com/wiki/Medic...Canada#Ontario
.....and follow the links to the official OHIP site. You must physically apply in person with the required proofs at any Services Ontario office.

If you are self-isolating and cannot go to ServiceOntario to register for coverage, please contact ServiceOntario INFOline at 1-866-532-3161. INFOline staff will advise on next steps as appropriate. You will be registered for immediate OHIP coverage and provided with a transaction record to use to demonstrate your eligibility for OHIP until your health card arrives in the mail.
