OMG....yesterday dollar/pound rate at $1.77......today $1.82.....what happened? and can someone lend me some money as our money is tied up in the house 'for another week or two'.....wanna buy buy buy.......

Just remember the rate you get will be slightly lower than advertised by a couple of points.

i saw it shoot up to about 1.83 yesterday.... before falling back to around 1.79 a few hours later.

perhaps it had something to do with the .5% interest rate cut?

who knows???

in any event, it is back to about 1.82..... but still some way short of my 'dreamed of' toonie!

Likely to have been because the traders were expecting a larger interest rate cut and it didn't happen....

The $1.83 euphoria only lasted about 3 hours before falling back below $1.80. Today there has been a slight recovery, presumably related to Canadian unemployment stats. I'm not at all convinced we'll see $1.85 again, at least in the next few months.
