Old SIN number
Hi everyone,
I lived and worked in Vancouver for a year in 2010. I have now got my PR card to move back but need a SIN number before starting work.
I don't have any record of my old SIN number (from 2010) so should I apply for a new one or try and obtain the old one?
Also, if I apply by post I don't really want to send my original PR card over to Canada as I will need it when I come over in the new year.
Any thoughts welcome.
Thanks
Dan

Re: Old SIN number
If you only had a temp SIN number, then it will have expired by now anyway. You'll need to apply for a new one - https://britishexpats.com/wiki/Socia...rary_Residents

Previously I was here in 2004/2005.
They weren't interested in my old SIN which was "temporary" and began with a 9. They assigned me a new one.
The process took an hour at Toronto City Hall.
That being said employers would still likely take your old SIN. I know multiple people who stayed after visas expired and no one policed it or came after them unless they were reported.

I moved to Canada full time as a PR in 2010.
