NOKU72,
I dont think they have completly stopped just slowed down a lot, my wife just got her LMO today so they are still taking people on but maybe not in so many numbers. Any questions just ask and we will try and help.

Re: Nurses coming to Lower Mainland BC
My wife Sarah and I moved to Vancouver form the UK Last year. After jumping through some hoops she was able to find employment as a nurse.
One of her colleagues who also moved here from the UK referred us to a pension specialist in the area. Much to our surprise we were able to transfer her NHS Pension to Canada! Not only could we transfer the pension we were able to withdrawal a portion of the funds to put toward the down payment of our first home here.
I came across this thread of messages and I thought you might find the information interesting. If anyone would like the contact information to the individual who helped us I would be happy to pass it on.
Kind regards,
Jay

welcome to this thread and BE,
as you can see cathy got this started and there has already been some good info and numerous private messages being sent.
im sure someone will come along and advise you on richmond and schooling etc, im not there in vanvouver yet, but have secured my job in abbotsford, like you am waiting TWP, meds info went last week to CIC so not long now.
have you got employment arranged, i presume so if youve got TWP.
the only thing i can say is that on my recce trip last year i was nothing but impressed with the hospital and the unit i am to be working on, all seemed friendly and cathy reports its a good place to work.
goodluck with the TWP, hope youve not long to wait.

Re: Nurses coming to Lower Mainland BC
For those of you interested in talking with the pension guy I used he is in town May 25 to 27th. I told him I recommended him on the site so he is taking Sarah and I out for dinner when he is in town to say thanks. If I recall correctly he is flying into Vancouver on the 25th. He will be with his BC team leader Andrew. If you want more info let me know.
Cheers!

Re: Nurses coming to Lower Mainland BC
Hi Cathy, I read your posting and agree that there seems to be a lack of a central source of info for nurses recruited from the UK. I was initially in contact with an organisation known as Healthmatch BC and they were helpful with regards to immigration options etc. However once I accepted employment, it was a case of finding things out for myself. Upon arrival, my employer did very little to help. A few of us used a relocation company recommended by and paid for by the employer however I found the service pretty basic and no help was given in regards to finding accommodation.
Another important factor, for Mental Health Nurses considering employment with BCMHAS at Riverview, is that Riveriew is being downsized and if your speciality is Adult servcies, beware that you are now highly likely to be placed in Geriatric services). I hope this info helps in some way.

Hi
I am also very open to people contacting me...either through PM or on here.
I too work for Fraser Health but in the community. I also have a great friend here from the UK who is a Operational Lead (Nurse Manager) at St.Pauls hospital in Vancouver. He would also be able to help/advise.
