Hi, Not sure how quick you want to get out to Canada but we did concurrent processing. In effect I sent off my CV to a number of hospitals in BC. I had a successful interview 30th of August and then I put everything in together, so I applied to the Canadian embassy with a copy of the LMO request, I sent off for my Canadian nurse registration. I had medicals before the LMO was received. The LMO arrived on the 2nd October & my WP was issued on Oct 10th. I still have not received my temp nurse registration but am informed it should be anytime. All in all the process took apx 8 weeks. We fly out to Vancouver in December to start work in January. I had my interview in July then sent my stuff off as per CARNA request end of July and it was painful: once they received my application, they had to wait for my 2 schools of nursing to send my training transcripts through. POSTAL STRIKE and despite using recorded delivery, yep RM lost it! Resent copy (please make sure you get copies of the application etc!!) and they advised me they had all details through end of August. Assessment was bang in middle of all other Canadian nurses re-registering so i was told 6-8 weeks. 2 weeks after that bingo I found out. One thing I would say is get the international consultants/hr person email and keep in touch. I only found out by emailing them directly about the eligibility bit even though they had already sent the letter 10 days ago.

Wow thats a quick turnaround time! I am using an agency and TBH the time frame for me is end part of March 2008 which suits us at present. The agency is following a: once you have received this then do that and then after that you have to do this etc. Not really bothered but great news for you though? Are you planning to keep us informed of your progress?? Just being nosey!;)

Hi, did it all myself without an agency but you really have to be on top of things. The CRNBC was a bit of a nightmare because my initial nurse training school had closed down. I kept in touch with CRNBC regularly and made sure I had a name of someone to speak to. Have to say though they have always been friendly and polite and rang me back when I left a message. I am off to BC Childrens Hospital, I read lots of good reviews about it and I contacted the manager directly before I had the interview. This site has been really useful so I hope I can offer any advice I can to others. :thumbsup:
