Sorry, have been totally bad at reading this forum - bad, bad me. Mostly because we are waiting for everything to get sorted out and I can't stand thinking about it all! We are also having second thoughts, to be honest. Not about if we want to move, but when we want to move. So not sure when that will happen. Passport request came in last week, which is very exciting. We are planning a trip to visit my family (Bridgewater and Halifax) in September - my sister is expecting triplets any day now so I can't wait to see them!

We'd love to move to Wolfville/Kentville area if we could find work. Or else move to the country and have a go at self-sufficiency! :) We are torn between city and country. Sigh.

Nice to see so many people moving to NS - tis definitely a great place!!

Hi everybody, this is my first post!

It's great to see so many people moving to NS - normally when we mention moving to Canada everybody thinks we are going to Toronto or Vancouver - so to read these boards and see others sharing our passion for NS is really great and helps us realise that we are perhaps not so crazy to decide on moving from the UK!

We purchased a house last year in Rose Bay, Lunenburg County - call it mid-life crisis if you like, but we only went for a 2 week holiday and came back owning a house! Still it's different than the "usual" 20 year old girlfriend and a red Porsche............

We will be moving in Summer 2006, so expect to see me asking lots of logistical questions in the next few months
Counting down the days to our 6 week holiday starting 21st July.......

best wishes to you all, Gary

Hi Corky, nice to hear from you - how long have you been living in NS?
Now I know you are local, I may be bugging you with lots of questions!
Our house in on the Kingsburg Road, right in front of a jetty, so the sea is very close (about 30metres away I guess)
Regards, Gary

Hi Ya Dalehouse
Funny we were just talking about how long we had been here in NS.....20 years on the 18th of June....just call me a bluenoser!!!
Oh will have to take notice next time we drive by your house....is that the government wharf by the way? There used to be a festival in Rose Bay but I think they have moved it to Lunenburg now.

HI Gray,

well all you NS clan, we have 5 more days to go before we arrive, getting really excited, can't wait to meet everyone we have been speaking to on this forum. Had some bad news yesterday, our house sale fell through to a stupid investor who strung us along. So be aware of them!! But house back on market with another estate agent today. So fingers crossed they will sell it for us, but does mean we have to rent for now until it sells. So anyone know of 3 bedroom house in dartmouth or fall river area for rent?
See everyone soon.

We're also likely to head to NS this autumn. We're fact finding in the Kootenays (BC) for definate but also want to go to NS for a look see & mini-hol. Someone on this forum said they did a round trip in approx 5 days so I think that's what we'll try and do as well. Never been to NS but the pictures & what I've read about it seem great.

My only reservation so far for NS is the snow, or lack of it. According to the climate stats there's on 50% chance of snow around Halifax at Christmas. If you want definate snow, it said you should go to the interior or up to Cape Breton Isl. Does this sound about right to those of you already over there? How much snow do you usually get and is it the powdery stuff or the wet stuff? Thanks!

Wow what a great sunset, I can see one just like it outside my bedroom window right now! So where is your sunset?
Yes just a quick ride across the bridge but I still prefer the ferry ride...the old way!
So join the group and become a maritimer.

Is anyone planning or does anyone live in Cape breton??

I know one place where I haven't heard anyone moving too and that is Newfoundland.....looks a stunning place but I suppose employment prospects are limited.

By the way there was a brilliant programme here on PBS (I think) of two families who wentto live in salt box houses in Newfoundland.... asocial experiment to see if they could live like their ancestors and make their living from catching and salting cod....I know its doesn't sound exciting but it was a great programme.....can't remember the name of it though

Hi
I was in Cape Breton over the new year.............a place of great views mountains etc.
A busy place in the summer and sking in the winter.
Quite isolated.think you could go stir crazy if snowed in too long. However the people are fantastic very kind and friendly.
