Nova Scotia

Hi Everyone,

I'm from Nova Scotia but I am currently living in Edinburgh with my Scottish Boyfriend. We are planning on moving back to Nova Scotia during the summer (him on BUNAC Visa, eventually on Common law visa).

I am surprised to see so many people on these forums have either settled or planning on moving to Nova Scotia. I know I love it there, but I didn't realize so many Brits did too!

I'm just curious - for those of you who have settled / plan to settle in Nova Scotia - why did you pick it?

Cheers!

We're from Scotland, and planning to emigrate to Nova Scotia. We chose it because we were looking for somewhere that had some aspects of home, which we think NS has. We went to visit last year and loved it - Halifax is a great city, and I love that you can live somewhere very rural and still be within reach of population areas. The people all seemed really friendly, the roads were quiet, there was a lot of nature :o) The house prices are also an incentive (compared to other bits of Canada) as is the close-ness to the UK - the other option was to go to Vancouver!

I'm married to a Canadian from Ontario but we're going to Nova Scotia in April. We liked it there. The people we met were friendly, we liked the scenery and I liked the fishing villages. We liked Pictou and the sense of history there. A big plus for me was that the flight back to the UK is not so long as from Toronto:-)

We live in NS too having moved from Essex in the UK. I tend to agree with most of the above comments, the pace of life, the people, house prices, scenery lots of things really.
