Non Resident Able to re-new UK Driving Licence
Am I able to renew my UK driving licence while back on Holiday in the UK or are only residents able to hold a Licence

Do you still have your UK licence? They took ours in exchange for an Ontario licence.

Not sure what the residency rules are, but I think they won't let you have one with a foreign address. I've still got mine, but I use a family address in the UK.

Yea still have a valid UK Licence but it expires in less than a year, had a quick look at the DVLC gov site and cant find much info about non residence. can always use a relatives address but do they check?

You are fine to use a relatives address, I thought about doing mine but didn't bother in the end. Have been back to the UK and rented a car with my Alberta licence with no difference in cost if I had been using a UK one.

In UK or Summerland? Haven't those new roundabouts (sorry traffic circles) slowed you down?

I'll be down there tomorrow, got a job on Jubilee Rd.

Ha ha must change that avatar one day. There is a local lady that drives a yellow Hummer but i don't know her well enough to ask for a go.

Do enjoy the Cozy Bay fish and chips on Victoria though.

Just be careful as it is an offence to not have your correct residential address on your license. If you're not a UK resident technically you shouldn't have a licence any more. If you get done under the license and it turns out you don't live at that address, well it depends on how officious the officer wants to be.

My wife pulled that one once when we lived in Canada. She was in a rental (minivan) ferrying her family around Niagara Falls when she was pulled over for speeding. When the cop asked for license and registration, she gave him her UK license and the rental agreement (her Ontario license remained hidden). She said the cop's heart sank and he obviously did not want to deal with the paperwork in this scenario. So he let her off with a warning.
