Many congrats Alvic. We're in a similar position cos we're going to be mortgage free from today, and as we got our keys early we've nearly moved in. MORTGAGE FREE, feels good eh. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Cool house - and good luck for the flights. I've noticed that in AB too - lots of trees around the houses to protect them from the elements. :thumbsup:

I never thought about those trees being to protect the house from wind. I always assumed people planted little dinky trees and then were astounded when they grew 60 feet tall and you had to have all the lights on in the house so you could see across the room!

My neighbour had a blue spruce in his front garden. You couldn't see out the window. So after it grew about 40 feet tall - he had it cut down to about two feet and now he stands a flower pot on it. Very tacky!

Some people up the street have planted three (3) spruce trees in the flowerbed right up against the front of the house!

I guess it keeps the tree cutting people busy - last summer I saw many houses with sold signs on them and a few weeks later - there were the tree people cutting down these monstrous trees that made all the rooms in the house dark!

It sure doesn't for us.

We Landed 11/12/07 and complete on our new house on 17/12/07 and even though we have been inside three times now, and been out and ordered furniture it still feels like we are just here on holiday. Maybe because we are staying with relatives - I wonder what next week will bring.......

Not the shipped goods; they are stuck in Montreal; but hey we have snow.

GL tress are for shade in the +35c summers not much cop as a wind break unless you have a hedgerow of them. We have poplars in he front and some 40' thing with branches from 1' keeps south facing rear bedroms cooler than the neighbours who doesn't have any.
