Niagara region

What is the niagara region like to live in? I've only visited the falls and Niagara on the Lake, but the whole scenery of the area looks beautiful. Also it's not miles away from Toronto and its relatively near places like Buffalo in US. St Catherine's seems a decent sized town and the property prices seem good value. Compared to Niagara Falls St Catherine's seems a nicer city. Des anyone have any experience of either of these places in terms of living there?

Wife lived in Grimsby for a long time. Lovely place. I'd be hard pushed to find any complaints about anywhere I've visited down that direction. Jordan/Jordan Station is pretty nice too.

Niagara Falls itself is a bit too touristy for my taste. Nice for a day trip but I don't think I'd enjoy living there all year.

I've driven through/by Grimsby (along the QEW) many times and often wondered what it was like. It's hard to tell from the QEW because everywhere looks like crap from there!

I have some friends who live in the rural hinterland south of the QEW between Grimsby and St Catherine's. It's beautiful, for sure. I'd be concerned what the OP plans to do for a living, though. As Iaink is fond of quoting, you can't eat the scenery. A commute from there to Toronto, for example, would be soul-destroying fairly quickly, so one would need to secure gainful employment somewhere on the peninsula or, at furthest, in Hamilton. I certainly wouldn't want to have to commit to the Skyway every day in rush hour.

Bit industrial down near the highway with a lot of new developments. In the town itself it's very nice.

I live in St Catharines and I love it here, it's not perfect by any means but it has a lot going for it. I'll be happy to give you more in depth info if you'd like?
