Hello:) I just joined. I feel very isolated in the small MN town where I live with my American hubby so I was really excited to come across this website where I can connect with other Brits abroad.

Hi thanks for the welcome. I realised later on that I posted in the Canada section. I'm still finding my way around. I live pretty close to Canada anyway. Thunderbay is just up the shore from me and I like going up there for day trips so I can stock up on decent chocolate! Plus it's a gorgeous drive. :)

We won't hold it against you if you want to post here, us Canadians are pretty laid back. :)

A long time ago I came from Liverpool just up the road from you. ;)

I'm right in the middle of Liverpool & Manchester, although I was born in Southport so my loyalties lie with Liverpool over Manchester.

Had some excellent nights out in Liverpool:blink:

Used to drive through Huyton every day when I worked at Alder Hey.. It's a bit rough now.

A bit rough now.:eek: It wasn't exactly village of the year material when I left in 1963.;)

Alder Hey, I remember that place. I spent some time there.

I was finishing work one night (12ish) and got chased through the streets with someone trying to car jack me. Pleased to say I lost them and escaped safe and sound with my car.

Our induction at Alder Hey included a copper coming to talk to us about how to spot parents using (drugs) and how to report these incidents. They passed all types of drugs around to show us what they looked like, but having lived in Netherton for a while it was a bit of a wasted hour.

But I still love Liverpool:)
